Ribbon microphones

This type of microphone also know as ribbon velocity mics. Instead of using a diaphragm, ribbon mic uses a thin aluminum ribbon to capture sound.

How ribbon mics works?

An electrically conductive ribbon placed between the poles of a magnet to produce a voltage by electromagnetic conduction.

Usually ribbon mics are bi-directional, this mean that these mics can capture sound from equally sides.
